We wanted to share some of our favorite places to eat & explore to on your next autumn getaway.
One of the best places to stay in beautiful Bar Harbor is the Bar Harbor Inn & Spa. This luxury hotel overlooking Frenchman Bay provides gorgeous views, endless amenities & amazing accommodations. Make time to relax on your vacay and treat yourself to any of their relaxing spa services.
If you still want gorgeous views, but want to be closer to the heart of town, stay at the Inn on Mount Desert. It has a home away from home feel complete with a spot on the front porch.
There’s no shortage of shopping in Bar Harbor. The beautiful shops & boutiques that line main street are perfect for picking up souvenirs. Also, if you want to soak up some local history, ride Oli’s Trolley. This local (off the rails) trolley company has tours for both downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
Whether you take a tour or explore for yourself, Acadia National Park is a must-see in Maine! Some of the most gorgeous views can be seen as the leaves change for fall. Spend the day climbing Cadillac Mountain or hike to the iconic Thunder Hole to hear its earth-shaking roars! If you get hungry, just stop by Jordan Pond House for tea, popovers or fresh steamed lobster (a staple in Maine).
If you’re looking for seafaring adventures, we recommend taking a tour of Frenchman’s Bay. Acadian Boat Tours have fun nature & sightseeing tours. Even though most of your time will be spent enjoying the views, they offer a cozy heated cabin & snacks. Plus, they’re dog-friendly!
Seeking a more hands-on excursion? Go lobstering or whale & seal watching with the Bar Harbor Whale Watch Co.
Bar Harbor has an amazing array of good eats. Did you know whoopie pie is Maine’s state dessert? Make sure to stop by Mount Dessert Bakery for sweet treats.
And for dinner & drinks head to Thirsty Whale Tavern or Stewman’s Downtown for the best local brews and great eats.
